"Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going." Jim Rohn We were all exuberantly celebrating New Years a few weeks ago. Making and planning out our new resolutions list. For some it was going to the gym and working out, reading more books and watching less television, spending more time with your spouse, children, parents or friends. Perhaps eating healthier, taking classes at Green Lotus Studios and Florida's School of Holistic Health were on your list for this year as well. How many of us are still staying faithful to those resolutions? Most likely several of us have begun to loss momentum. Motivation got us going and now we have to work on forming some good habits to keep us moving in the right direction. Learning how to Detox our bodies will help us to better accomplish our New years resolutions. I don't know about you, but this time next year I would really like to have a completely new list because I completed all of this years goals. Learning how to detox can help our goals be more attainable. Fewer toxins means more energy and a better sense of self worth which in turn helps us to reach our yearly goals. When we hear the word detox we usually think about getting rid of toxins from our body. According to the University of Wisconsin Integrative Medicine " The five basic components of any detoxification program should include exercise, regular sweating, healthy nutrition, self-reflection, and body-work." Who should detox? If you have Fatigue with sleep disruption, brain fog, moodiness, depression, anxiety, muscle aches and pains, sinus issues, bloating and gas then you may need to detox. These are just a few of the symptoms and you should always go to see your doctor first to be sure none of these symptoms are caused by something serious before you detox. You should also seek out the advice of a Master Herbalist such as Donna M. McGee Rev. MH MT RYT 500RM at this link http://www.greenlotusstudios.com/ to aid you through the detox process. There are actions you can take to help cut down on the amount of toxins you take into your body on a daily basis. Eat less packaged goods and more fresh and organic vegetables and meats for starters. Drink spring water, juices, smoothies (Green Lotus Studios juice and smoothie detox class on March 7, 2016 sign up here http://www.greenlotusstudios.com/calendar.html) and organic milk. Taking a good probiotic to help your gut health is another good start. Having a healthy gut is one of the most important ways to help free ourselves of toxins. A healthy gut is able to digest food well so the body can take advantage of all the great nutrition in those organic fresh vegetables, fruits and meats. Eating lots of organic fresh vegetables and fruit will help our bodies flush out the toxins in our body and help heal leaky gut as well. Another great way to help with our gut health is to drink Kefir. We can buy this in the store but it is much better for us if we make it our self. Come to our next Fermentation Workshop 2 class to learn how to make Kefir and to find out how to get kefir grains. Our next class is coming up on March 10, 2016. Don't miss out on this great class, sign up today to insure your spot. Here is a list of 5 foods that can help cleanse and support the body.
