Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you! Dr. Seuss One of the many things that make you …you and me…me is our hair. All the different colors and textures make us each a unique individual! We change our hair depending on the event we attend, the mood we are in, who we might run into so on and so on… with all the coloring, perming, curling and products our hair can take quit the beating! Well, what other choice do I have? I am so glad you asked… There are plenty of ways to keep your hair looking great naturally without using all those pesky chemicals. All those chemicals do not just affect your hair. The chemicals also get absorbed through your skin and some can even make it into your bloodstream. There are at least 18 different vitamins and minerals that your hair and scalp need to be healthy. One way you can get these is by eating healthy! If you have brittle hair add some Flax seed to your diet. Vitamin E is one of the many vitamins your hair and scalp needs to grow healthy . You can get vitamin E by eating wheat germ, sunflower seeds, leafy green veggies, salmon, lobster, peanuts and peanut butter! You can take one pint of alfalfa sprout juice mixed with lettuce juice a day to stimulate hair growth. If you want to learn more about eating healthy check our calendar and sign up for the Nutritional Herbalism class! The book you receive is absolutely amazing! This class was a lot of fun but I will tell you more about that in another blog! If you want to learn more about just hair then you will want to sign up for the, All About Hair, class I attended last Saturday. We learned about Natural shampoos, conditioners, Organic Natural Colorants and treatments, and yes we did learn more about eating healthy for our hair. We even got to sample Donna’s Rapunzel tea… yummy! Ok, so as Donna says “it is not guaranteed to make your hair as long as Rapunzel’s, but it will help nourish your hair from the inside out”! This recipe is also in the packet you receive in class… Let’s see… what else did we learn about… Aww yes! We learned some of the different Essential Oils that help promote growth, greasy hair, Dandruff and that help with general hair care. Donna taught us what a “part” was and how to create a mixture of dry herbs and Essential oils to create a final hair rinse that was great for every hair type. It smelled Divine! Donna also taught us how to make a natural dry shampoo for both light hair and dark hair. Lastly we learned about shampoo bars and who could best use them. Donna then taught us how to make liquid shampoo. Everyone got to take a sample home. We chose what essential oils went into our samples. It was a great time and there is a lot of bonus information and recipes in the packet you take home that was not covered in class. This is a class you don’t want to miss. Since then I have tried both the shampoo and rinse on my hair and I love them! I have very long, thick hair and most shampoos do not leave my hair manageable. This shampoo is awesome. I will surely be attending the shampoo bar class so I can make this at home! Check the calendar for the next class and come join in on the fun!
